Brazilian midfielder Denílson, formerly of Arsenal, will finally get his opportunity to debut for new club Cruzeiro on Sunday.
Denílson has been at Toca da Raposa II since July 22, and was picked by Mano Menezes for Sunday’s game against Santa Cruz at the Mineirão, for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship. Loaned to the club until December this year, the midfielder will have just over three months to convince the board to pay €2 million for his rights, owned by Al Wahda of UAE. Denílson will have a maximum of 19 matches to show his worth to the coaching staff and the board.
Mano Menezes said: “He’s already taking part in all the works without any restriction and will be in the squad for the first time on Sunday. He’s a player for an important function in the team and within the game, if there is the possibility or the need, we will surely use him because there’s already a condition for it. Experienced, makes good passes and has good vision to the midfield. We have confidence to do it with him.”
