Chelsea winger Willian is in contention to start tomorrow’s Premier League encounter against Burnley at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian picked up a calf injury shortly before the Blues’ 2-1 win over Watford last Saturday, causing him to miss out.

Willian was called into the Brazil squad for September qualifiers against Ecuador and Colombia by new boss Tite, with the caveat that his fitness would be assessed prior to his call up. Earlier this week, Willian moved to allay fears that he might miss out on the September double header.

“I believe that next Saturday I will already be back playing and tomorrow I will be training with my teammates. I am always in touch with the national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar and he asks me how I am. Every day I feel better. I hope that I will not have problems play with the Brazilian team.”

His manager Antonio Conte suggested that Willian was in contention to start this weekend, telling reporters at his Friday press conference, “He had a good session with the team today. We have to check tomorrow and then choose.”
