Palmeiras goalkeeper Fernando Prass believes Manchester City will have a much more rounded player when teenage striker Gabriel Jesús joins them in January. The 19 year old agreed a deal to join the Premier League club this month, but will stay with Palmeiras until the conclusion of the Brasileirão in December.

38 year old teammate Prass thinks that holding off on the move to England for another six months will aid his development, “It will be good for Gabriel, for Palmeiras and Manchester City. Manchester City will get a much more evolved player, Olympic champion, God willing Brazilian champion and already some qualifying games played for Brazil, which is a very good experience for him.”

Jesús, who played a starring role in Brazil’s recent Olympic gold, was humbled by the words of his teammate. Gabriel wore a Prass goalkeeper shirt when he collected his medal in Rio, after Prass was prevented from participating in the games because of an elbow injury.

“Prass helped me a lot when I went up to the first team at Palmeiras and helped me a lot in the national team. He was chosen on merit, but did not play in the Olympics because of misfortune. He was part of the group and won gold as we did.”
