Chelsea winger Willian has reassured new Brazil boss Tite that he will be fit for September qualifiers against Venezuela and Colombia in September. Willian missed Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Watford at the weekend with a small calf problem.
Tite selected Wllian in his inaugural squad at CBF headquarters on Monday and included Willian, with the caveat that his fitness would be assessed. But Willian has moved to reassure Tite in an interview with Globo, where he says that he will be fit enough for selection.
“In training on Friday I ended up feeling a twinge in the calf and still ended up traveling to play on Saturday. But on Saturday morning, I had a test at the hotel and we thought it better, me and the doctors, not risk not it getting worse.
“I believe that next Saturday I will already be back playing and tomorrow I will be training with my teammates. I am always in touch with the national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar and he asks me how I am. Every day I feel better. I hope that I will not have problems play with the Brazilian team.”
Willian is also relishing working with some of the young players that recently won gold for Brazil at the Olympics, “I liked Tite’s squad, we have very young players, who are playing for Brazil for the first time, but with a lot of talent. I hope that we can be successful in these two games.”
