Catalan newspaper SPORT, in its edition on Saturday, have published a profile praising São Paulo defender Rodrigo Caio, who’s currently with the Brazilian national team for the Olympic Games.
The text describes the features of the Brazilian defender, and reports that the 23-year-old is being observed by Barcelona. In the report, it’s mentioned that Rodrigo Caio has excelled in the Olympics, and has “overshadowed” his defensive partner Marquinhos. They add that Rodrigo Caio was the best in his position in the last edition of the Copa Libertadores and is repeating the same level of performances in the Olympics. SPORT also cites the interest of Sevilla, but if Barça make a proposal, then Rodrigo will opt for them.
This Friday, Brazilian journalist Paulo Vinícius Coelho reported that São Paulo ensures that they haven’t received any official offer for the player. The club believes that the minimum amount to release him to a European club is €15 million. Last week, UOL Esporte claimed that São Paulo did not accept a verbal offer presented by an intermediary on behalf of Sevilla. The proposal was approximately  €9.5 million, plus €1.5 million in bonuses, for 80% of Rodrigo’s economic rights. The value was offered by André Cury, same agent who negotiated the departure of Paulo Henrique Ganso to Sevilla.
