Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato continued his tradition of scoring in debut games, but his team Villarreal lost 2-1 at home to Monaco, in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday.
The goals of the visitors were scored by Brazilian wing-back Fabinho and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva. With the result, Villarreal now have a complicated task next Tuesday to advance. After just 2 minutes of play, the visitors opened the scoring with Fabinho converting a penalty kick. Villarreal defender Alfred N’Diaye brought down Bernardo Silva inside the area and German referee Felix Brych did not hesitate to point to the spot. Pato, making his debut for the Spanish team, scored after 36 minutes to continue his tradition of scoring in debut games. Pato has found the net on his debut for Internacional, Brazil, AC Milan, Corinthians, Chelsea, and now Villarreal. Only debut in which Pato has failed to score was at São Paulo.
