Liverpool winger Adam Lallana has admitted that Philippe Coutinho has cemented his status as Reds’ free-kick taker after a wonderful curling effort from 30 yards against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Brazilian scored two goals in Liverpool’s 4-3 win, the first of which was a masterful curling free kick into the top corner to level the scores at 1-1 just before half time. Lallana admitted after the match, “We were working on them a couple of days ago- there’s no chance anyone is getting anywhere near a free-kick now.

“Phil came up trumps with that one. We all want him to have them because he can produce that, and I think that’s the best I have ever seen him score,” Lallana told Liverpool’s official website. “It was further out than usual and it was right in the top corner, the keeper had no chance.

“A great bit of magic from Phil gave us that belief and confidence going into half-time. That was massive for us and we came out for the second half like we were possessed. It was brilliant,” he gushed.

Coutinho had to be replaced before the end, having hobbled off with what looked like a calf injury, however, the Brazilian confirmed to reporters that the issue was not serious, telling them, “It was just cramp, nothing else. I am fine.”
