Brazil defeated Denmark 4-0 in their final group stage game on Wednesday at the Arena Fonte Nova, and Santos striker Gabigol found the net twice.
Gabigol said after the game that “not much has changed” in the team that drew 0-0 against South Africa and Iraq in the first two matches of the Olympic Games. Brazil secured their entry to the quarterfinals of the competition after the big win over Denmark, and will face Colombia at the Arena Corinthians on Sunday. Gabigol said: “In my opinion, not much has changed, our team played very well in the last two games, but it’s just that the ball went in today. We had a little more calmness, turned the ball from one side to the other. We could’ve improved a bit, but we came here after two good games, and today was another one. Sometimes, people only look at the result. Now we can have more patience.”
According to PSG defender Marquinhos, the team has bounced back and improved, despite the criticism after the first two games. He said: “The criticism made us better, now it’s the time for us to enjoy. We qualify, and conquered our objective. We know that we have a lot on our way, it’s just one objective that we’ve achieved. Now we will study a bit about the Colombian team. We saw a friendly they played with Argentina. But against Brazil it’s always a classic.”
