Brazil captain Neymar Junior is expected to be fit for Saturday night’s Olympic quarter-final match against Colombia on Saturday evening. The Barcelona man turned his ankle in the second half of Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory over Denmark in Salvador.
Neymar rolled his ankle whilst running with the ball, but managed to play on. However, anxieties resurfaced when he left the stadium limping, kindling fears that he could be unavailable for Saturday’s quarter-final.
However, examinations have revealed the issue to be a Grade 1 sprain, which is minor. Neymar is expected to train normally on Friday and take his place in the starting line-up against Colombia. The Brazil captain was injured in the World Cup quarter-final two years ago, forcing him out of the semi-final defeat to Germany.
