Corinthians midfielder Elias has come out in defense of coach Cristóvão Borges, who was target of protests during the game against Cruzeiro, at Pacaembu, on Monday.
The boos, from Corinthians supporters, aimed at Cristóvão Borges during the second half of the game bothered Elias. The player came out in defense of the coach after the match and criticized the behavior of the fans, comparing them to rivals São Paulo.
Elias said: “In the end, it seems that our fans turned into the crowd of São Paulo… complaining. You have to support.”
Elias was Brasileirão champion last year, and he’s one of the few starting XI players who remained in the team for this season. Elias argued that the team are just two points behind the league leaders even with the departure of many players. He added: “The whole team was reformulated. They said we would fight against relegation, but we are just two points behind the leaders.”
