Brazil midfielder Renato Augusto said that his teammates must accept the frustrations of the home crowd and move on, following a second successive 0-0 draw in a stuttering Olympic campaign. Brazil were held by South Africa on Thursday and more surprisingly still, by Iraq on Sunday night, prompting boos and cat calls from the home crowd in Brasilia.

Renato, who missed a gilt edged opportunity to win the game in stoppage time against Iraq, was philosophical about the reaction of the crowd, who voiced their displeasure against a number of players, and sang constantly for Brasil Feminino legend Marta.

“I had a clear head. Football is like that. It’s natural. We can not let the boos disturb our team. In the second half, the team was booed and we fell a bit,” he remarked. However, the Beijing based midfielder insists there is still plenty to play for with a must win game against Denmark on Wednesday evening.

“We missed many opportunities. We missed more than ten times in two games,” lamented Renato Augusto, now looking ahead to the decisive match against Denmark on Wednesday in Salvador. “We can not think that it’s all wrong. You think step by step to win the next game.”
