Santos are trying to avoid the summer transfer of full-back Zeca, midfielder Thiago Maia and striker Gabigol; all three players are currently with the Brazilian national team for the Olympic Games.
Several European clubs are following Zeca, Thiago Maia and Gabigol and the players’ should be even more valued after the Olympics. In order to keep them at least until 2017, Santos are planning to offer new contracts with salary increases and bonuses for goals achieved. The board is satisfied with the performance of the team and believes that they can fight for the Brazilian Championship this year.
According to Globo Esporte, Zeca is wanted by Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. In April, Santos turned down an offer of €8 million from Atletico Madrid, and asked €10 million for 70% of the economic rights they’re entitled to. Now, as Zeca is even more valued, the Brazilian club are expected to increase the asking price. PSG director Patrick Kluivert has already started talks with Bruno Paiva, one of the representatives of OTB Sports, which is the company that takes care of the 22-year-old’s career.
19-year-old midfielder Thiago Maia is a target for Premier League side Chelsea, according to reports in Brazil. The youngster doesn’t have an agent since he ended the relationship with Juan Figer, and he’s currently being managed by his family. In recent days, however, the player approached Giuliano Bertolucci to sign a new representation agreement. Bertolucci told Thiago Maia that Chelsea will make an offer to Santos soon. In addition, the agent ensures that he will bring a proposal from Paris Saint-Germain. He was already in the sights of several European teams before signing a new contract.
