Brazil striker Gabriel Jesús admitted that his point blank miss in his country’s 0-0 draw with South Africa will haunt him and prevent him from sleeping. The Seleção endured a subpar 0-0 draw with South Africa in the opening game of their Olympic campaign in Brasília, with Jesús hitting the post from close range with a gilt-edged chance in the 69th minute.

The new Manchester City signing, who had a quiet game overall, lamented, “I lost an opportunity that I do not usually lose. I am not going to sleep now. I have, messed up, but we’ll keep working to improve.

“I get very upset, very sad. It was unfortunate, my mistake but it can happen. I am the top scorer in the Brasileirão, one mistake will not make me doubt myself.” Jesús also revealed that he had difficulty being asked to play so high up in Brazil’s front three.

“I don’t feel comfortable in this new position, I feel isolated. But the manager says that he wants me to leave Neymar and Gabriel Barbosa behind and play high up.” The 19 year old officially signed with Manchester City on Wednesday, but will stay with Palmeiras until the conclusion of the Brasileirão in December.
