Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has praised Brazilian playmaker Oscar, following Chelsea’s pre-season friendly with A.C. Milan in Minneapolis. The Blues ran out 3-1 winners and the Italian played down suggestions that he had been displeased with Oscar’s efforts during a 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid at the weekend.

Conte said of Oscar, who played the last half an hour and scored twice, "Oscar is an important player, and I think the season when Chelsea won the title, [he] played a fantastic season. I think that Oscar is a good player with great talent and he can improve. He can improve a lot, I think, but I am seeing in him a good attitude, a good will."

The player has continuously been linked with Juventus during the last two years, but was heavily linked with a move to Inter Milan during the week. Conte did suggest that the match did give him some clearer ideas on who to sell and who to retain for his maiden season at the club.

"I said before to wait to judge the player, to see the player in [the preseason], and then to try the right solution for this team," Conte said. “I think this match told me a lot about this, also about the players who we keep and who can go on loan and who we can sell. For me, today it was important because I had the idea more clear than before."
