Atlético Mineiro are expected to forward the sale of young striker Carlos on Wednesday; the player’s destination should be Russia.
According to the information from UOL Esporte, there’s a meeting scheduled between the board of directors and agents Alexandre Gaspar and Jorge Machado to define the situation of the attacker. Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow are believed to be the two Russian clubs with an interest in signing the 20-year-old. The one responsible for negotiating Carlos with the Russians is agent Jorge Machado. He went to Russia during the month of July to get in touch with the leaders of the country, and the intention was to offer Carlos to clubs in Russia. Negotiations were successful and he returned to Brazil with offers. Alexandre Gaspar, representative of the player, will be in Belo Horizonte to set the details of the possible transaction. Atlético Mineiro hold 70% of the economic rights of Carlos, and the transfer fee should be €4.5 million.
Meanwhile, Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade reported that Zenit’s board members are in Brazil since the beginning of the week to complete the signing of Carlos. The transfer of Carlos would be a special request from newly appointed coach Mircea Lucescu, who was also key in the agreement to sign Giuliano from Grêmio.
