Ex Chelsea midfielder Ramires has given his backing to the London club’s new recruit N’Golo Kante. The Frenchman joined from champions Leicester this summer and inherited Ramires’ old number 7 squad number.
The Brazilian, who joined Jiangsu Suning in China in January, wished Kante luck with Chelsea, “I am very proud to have worn the shirt 7 success with Chelsea for so long and I think it is in good hands with Kanté. I’m rooting for him to win by at least half of the titles I won wearing this number.
“If this happens, it will already help a lot. I’m here in China, but always looking out for what happens in England. The group has not changed, I have lots of friends there and I’ll be here cheering for Chelsea to reach their goals this season.”
Ramires joined Chelsea from Benfica in 2010, winning a league title, an FA Cup, a League Cup, a Europa League and a Champions League title in his four and a half years there.
