Liverpool attacker Philippe Coutinho admits that his summer break was much needed, after a disappointing end to last season. The Brazilian was part of the Liverpool side that lost to Sevilla in the Europa League final in May.

In June, he was part of a Brazil squad that tumbled out of Copa América in the group stages, despite his hat trick against Haiti. Coutinho admits that he was ready for a holiday by the time Brazil left the US.

Speaking during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of America, Coutinho told Liverpool.com, "After the end of the season, it was tough and hard because we lost [the Europa League final]," he said. “I needed a little break but now we are back and ready to go again.

"But it’s nice to have everyone together now. We’re still missing some players, but most of us are here and that’s good. It’s very nice here in America. The weather is really nice and we have everything to be ready and to prepare everything to be good on the pitch."

The ex-Inter schemer also explained a new tattoo, picked up during his vacation, "I went to my home, to my home city, and stayed with family and friends over the summer. I got some new tattoos, including one of my daughter.

"I had it done in Brazil. It hurt a lot – it took five hours to do and was done all in one go! I don’t have plans for anymore now… only if I have another child!"
