Santos own 40% of Gabigol"s economic rights, while the remaining is divided between the player"s family [40%] and investment group Doyen [20%].
UOL Esporte found from Santos leaders and representatives of Gabigol that, due to the delay of Juventus in sending their official offer, the player"s family is already considering to accept the renewal proposal of the Brazilian club. This week, Gabigol"s father Valdemír Barbosa called Santos president Modesto Rome for the contract. Valdemír and Gabigol"s representative intends to discuss with their lawyers before signing the renewal. The family of Gabigol has always been willing to sign a contract extension at Santos. But everything changed after the player"s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, delivered a verbal proposal from Juventus. Before the derby against Palmeiras, Wagner Ribeiro informed the club that Juventus are ready to offer €20 million euros for the share owned by Santos.
The problem is that, Santos, Gabigol and his family have been waiting more than two weeks for the official proposal from the Italian champions. Because of this, Gabigol"s representatives are seriously considering a renewal with Santos. In their view, the 19-year-old has nothing to lose by extending his contract.
