There is still no official proposal on the table of São Paulo president Leco for Rodrigo Caio, but Italian side Lazio have already started negotiations to sign the defender.
Lazio are aware of São Paulo’s €12 million asking price for the 22-year-old. According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, family members of Rodrigo Caio met two representatives of Lazio on Wednesday to discuss the wages of the player. The first offer was rejected by Rodrigo Caio, who is currently with the Brazilian national team preparing to play the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Lazio are not alone in the race, as a Spanish club have reportedly promised to approach São Paulo to start conversations for Rodrigo Caio. Last year, Rodrigo arrived in Spain to complete a move to Valencia, but a deal collapsed after he failed his medical tests. He also negotiated with Atlético Madrid, but a transfer did not materialize because he wasn’t pleased with the conditions put forward.
