Brazil’s Olympic coach Rogerio Michale is happy to be dependent on Neymar during this summer’s games. The Selecao selected Neymar as one of their 3 permitted players over the age of 23, alongside Renato Augusto and Fernando Prass.
Neymar will play alongside talented forwards Gabriel Barbosa and Gabriel Jesus in the games, which take place in Brazil. Rogerio’s side have been drawn to play Denmark, Iraq and South Africa in the group stages.
The senior side have been accused of over reliance on the Barcelona man in recent years, but Rogerio does not see this as an issue for his U-23 side, “I want to be dependant on Neymar,” he told a press conference. “What coach would not want him on their team?
“My impression was better than I expected. He’s super motivated. He knows the importance of winning. He wants to help, and has shown what a great player he is. We will do what we can to make Neymar feel good. He represents what is the best of Brazilian football. I always want him with me. We have to create a team, but the importance of the individual factor is also crucial.”
