Palmeiras coach Cuca has reportedly informed the board of Palmeiras that he wants to have at least two more new signings for the second half of the season.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Cuca has often mentioned the name of Brazilian winger Bernard while discussing new signings with club director Alexandre Mattos. In 2013, Cuca and Bernard won the Copa Libertadores with Atlético Mineiro, but the player was sold to Ukrainian side Shakhtar soon after. Despite his desire, Cuca understands the difficulty to negotiate with Shakhtar, who shelled out a club-record €25 million fee to sign Bernard. Chances of a possible return of the player to Brazil at the moment is much lower compared to 2015, for example. Bernard had problems with the then coach Mircea Lucescu, who publicly criticized the winger’s attitude.
