Brazil have submitted their finalised 18 man squad for the Olympics in August, with two changes compared to the squad that was announced in June. Douglas Costa is injured and unable to play, whilst Shakhtar Donetsk have reversed their decision to release midfielder Fred, who has just returned from a doping ban.

In their places, Renato Augusto of Beijing Guoan has been called as one of Brazil’s 3 players over the age of 23 permitted. Whilst Grêmio volante Walace comes in for Fred. Walace was called into the Copa América squad as cover for Luiz Gustavo in June, but did not get on the pitch as the Seleção crashed out in the group stages.

Brazil have won their battle to call Paris Saint Germain defender Marquinhos into the squad, with reports that the French club considered refusing his call up. Since the Olympics is not a FIFA sanctioned tournament, clubs are not obliged to release players.
