Italian champions Juventus are in a hurry to close the transfer of Santos forward Gabigol, and are ready to shell out €20 million for the 19-year-old.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, Juventus have told Santos that they’re waiting for an official response within the beginning of next week. An obstacle in the negotiations with Juventus would be a condition stipulated by Santos president Modesto Roma. Santos currently owns 40% of the player’s economic rights, but, to accept the offer, Modesto wants a further 20% of the transfer fee. Investment group Doyen Sports holds 20%, while Gabigol himself owns the other 40%. The idea of the president would be to reach a deal with Doyen or Gabigol, so that one of them can give up their 20% share. Despite the delay, Juventus remains confident in completing the transfer because the Italians already have a verbal agreement with Gabigol, who’s expected to receive a salary of €3 million per season and has a desire to work at a big team in European football.
Meanwhile, Modesto said: “I talked with his agent Wagner Ribeiro, his parents and the renewal is underway. Today it’s in contract settlement phase. They say there’s a proposal. Everyone says you have, but nobody shows. Proposal, for me, is when it’s on my desk. Bring it here, show the document to me.”
