After the derby against Palmeiras on Tuesday, Santos playmaker Lucas Lima hinted that a proposal from Europe may arrive in the coming days.
Lucas said: “In football you can never say no. My desire is to play in a big club in Europe. But if it’s to stay, no problem, because I am very happy here. But let’s see if Santos would get something this week.”
Santos have warned several times that they want to keep Lucas Lima until the end of his contract in December 2017 and therefore must reject all proposals for the playmaker this year. The reason is that the club owns just 10% of Lucas’ economic rights, and president Modesto Roma believe it’s not financially advantageous for them to sell the player, unless a team trigger his €50 million release clause. Recently, Russian club Zenit had made a €20 million bid for Lucas Lima, but a deal didn’t materialize.
