Santos forward Gabigol has reportedly rejected signing a contract extension with Santos until 2021.
The 19-year-old was offered monthly wages of €80,000 plus bonuses by Santos to renew his current bond, which runs until 2019. Despite a progress in talks in recent days, the attacker stepped back and has rejected a new contract, according to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade. He adds that Italian champions Juventus have sent a €20 million bid to take the young striker from Santos. The proposal is being handled by agent Wagner Ribeiro, who should pass it on to Santos president Modesto Roma. Juventus are also offering Gabigol a salary of €3 million per-year, which exceeds the recent proposal [€2 million per-year] he received from Chelsea. Last Thursday, Santos officially announced the contract extension of Gabigol through their website, even without the player signing the agreement, and this bothered those involved in the negotiations.
Meanwhile, Sky Italy reported that Juventus" €18 million bid for Gabigol will be presented by his agents to Santos president Modesto on Wednesday. Juventus are believed to have already reached an agreement with Gabigol"s father and agents. After Tuesday night"s game against Palmeiras, Gabigol said: “It"s not yet certain [renewal]. The president ended up talking, but there"s nothing confirmed. We"re just talking. My parents and my agents. There are some things to talk about. I have proposals, too. But there"s nothing confirmed yet. We didn"t talk much this week because it was an important week, it was the derby, wanted it to go well… but there"s nothing confirmed. We are talking and we will solve this gradually. It"s hard to tell whether I will stay or go away. We"re talking. There is nothing sure yet. Gradually we will decide. I leave it to my parents."
