Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Silva issued a statement on Monday ensuring that he will not from football, aged 23.
Last weekend, the European press speculated that Lucas Silva is retiring from football after he failed his medical tests at Sporting Clube de Portugal. Through social networks, the former Cruzeiro player confirmed that the tests detected a heart problem. According to the Brazilian, new tests were done, which didn’t show any abnormality in his heart.
Lucas wrote on Facebook: “On Friday, I had medical tests to sign with Sporting Club de Portugal, a great club with an exceptional manager. During the course of a stress test, they detected an irregular heartbeat. After that, and today, I’ve underwent several tests, which ruled out any abnormality in my heart. Apparently, it was only an alteration without any specific cause. For security reasons, we have decided that it’s best not to carry out the transfer for the moment. It’s natural that Real Madrid would want to repeat these medical tests, but I’m very calm, given the absolute normality revealed from the additional tests I performed. Following the news that have appeared in the media, I want to communicate officially and categorically that they’re not true and I’m not going to retire. Thank you so much everyone for the messages of encouragement.”
