Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato, who was on loan at Premier League side Chelsea, is training with Corinthians and has a contract until the end of this year.
Igli Tare, director of Lazio, admitted that coach Marcelo Bielsa requested the signing of Alexandre Pato, who just returned to Corinthians from his loan spell at Chelsea. At a news conference, the director disclosed the details of the contract offered to the player. On Friday, Italian media had reported that Lazio stopped their pursuit of Pato following the resignation of Marcelo Bielsa, just two days after being officially announced as their new manager.
Igli Tare said: “Bielsa asked for Pato. I said he was a quality player, but had doubts. He asked me to do everything to get him to Rome. I talked to Pato’s agent to formalize a proposal. Bielsa knew the standard wages at Lazio, but the proposal of Pato was similar to the contract of Klose. Pato said that he would talk to family before answering. Next day, he said he wanted to stay at Corinthians until 30 December, and that he did not want to leave Brazil for personal reasons.”
