Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes has signed a new contract with the club. The 35 year old Brazilian put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him with the Hornets until 2018. He joins Troy Deeney in committing his future to Watford this summer.

Gomes was voted Watford’s player of the season last year by fans and his teammates alike. In a short statement on the club’s official website, Watford stated that the Brazilian was being “rewarded for his fine performances in the Watford goal over the past two years.

“He also won the Performance of the Season trophy for his two penalty saves during a 1-0 win at West Brom.” Gomes joined Watford from Tottenham in 2014, following the retirement of Manuel Almunia. He has also previously represented Cruzeiro and PSV Eindhoven.
