Premier League champions Leicester City have sent an emissary to Porto Alegre to try and sign Grêmio’s Brazil U23 star Luan.
Called up to the Brazilian squad for this August’s Olympic Games, Grêmio forward Luan is once again attracting interest from European clubs. Leicester City have sent an emissary to Porto Alegre to meet with Luan’s agent Jair Peixoto. Grêmio are third in the Brazilian Championship table, but they haven’t ruled out the player’s departure. According to ESPN Brasil, Grêmio have demanded a transfer fee of €25 million during recent enquiries. The team led by Roger Machado has 70% of the economic rights of the 23-year-old, whose contract runs until December 2018. Last year, La Liga side Valencia had seen their €10 million bid get turned down. Leicester had scheduled a trip to Porto Alegre initially to discuss a deal for Internacional striker Eduardo Sasha, but talks have cooled after preliminary negotiations. There’s also an assessment that Luan would adapt more easily to English football. There are also murmurs from Porto Alegre that Liverpool are also interested in Luan’s services, but Leicester are better positioned at the moment to complete a deal.
