São Paulo may have a big problem for the key fixture against Atlético Nacional next Wednesday, in the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores.
42 minutes into the second-half of the 2-1 victory over Fluminense, Paulo Henrique Ganso felt discomfort on the back of his right thigh. The playmaker had to stay on the pitch, with São Paulo already making all three substitutions. São Paulo’s medical department has a week to treat Ganso and get him in shape for the encounter with the Colombian team. Upon leaving the field, the 26-year-old said something that really concerns the São Paulo supporters on the eve of a decisive game. He said: “I’m out.”
Meanwhile, São Paulo president Leco has confirmed the interest of La Liga side Sevilla in Ganso, and an opening bid of €8 million has already been rejected. Leco told ABC: “A week ago, it was when Sevilla made the offer. It was €8 million, but we said no because it wasn’t in our minds to get rid of him for that price. Sevilla, if they want him, should make a bigger effort. We know that they will go on. The interest is strong and we are ready to negotiate, but we are talking about a very important player for us. If all parties win-win, then Ganso will play in Spanish football.”
