On Wednesday, coach Rogério Micale announced the list of 18 players to compete in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, this August.
One of the highlights was the inclusion of Palmeiras’ veteran goalkeeper Fernando Prass, who hasn’t been a part of Brazil’s senior team. Neymar and Douglas Costa are the other two players above the age of 23. The presence of the Barcelona forward was already confirmed before the announcement because he was out of the Copa América Centenário. At a news conference, Micale said that the experience and leadership profile of Fernando Prass were instrumental in selecting the goalkeeper. PSG’s Marquinhos makes the list, but the Brazilian football federation couldn’t succeed in convincing the French side to release Thiago Silva.
