Lazio winger Felipe Anderson has spoken for the first time about links with Manchester United. The Brazilian was consistently linked with the Premier League club last summer and throughout the January transfer window, however, a move never materialised.
In an interview with Globoesporte, Felipe admits that a deal between Lazio and Manchester United was close, but he did not why it did not come to pass, “I don’t know why it didn’t work out. But I’m very calm, I have a long contract ahead.
“I have a good relationship with the club and when I get an offer that is good for me, and especially for the club, I will leave, but I’m calm and I hope I do well for the Olympics National Team.”
With United reportedly ready to tie up a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan this week, it seems that their appetite for a wide player has been satisfied. United have also changed managers this summer, with Jose Mourinho taking over from Louis van Gaal, which likely explains the loss of interest in Anderson.
