With little chances in the starting lineup this year, defender Marlon could soon leave Fluminense, at least temporarily.
According to the information from Globo Esporte, Barcelona are in negotiations to take the 20-year-old and he would play for the B team of the Catalan club for one year. The deal may also include a buy-option, which could be activated at the end of the loan agreement. Fluminense own 60% of the player’s economic rights, and people connected to the Brazilian club’s board confirmed the negotiations.
Fred Moraes, one of Marlon’s agents is in Europe participating in the negotiations. There are other transfer possibilities for the defender, but a move to Barcelona looks the most concrete at the moment. Remember that the Spaniards had already paid an advance fee to Fluminense for a purchase-priority of Marlon in 2015. The defender, who came through Fluminense’s youth system, has a contract until December 2019.
