Tite reportedly refused an offer from Portuguese side FC Porto before accepting the invitation from the Brazilian national team.
According to the information from Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, Tite was concentrated on Corinthians at the time, and the coach refused a new opportunity to work in European football. Days before opening talks with the Brazilian football federation to replace Dunga, Tite declined an invitation from FC Porto. The then coach of Corinthians was one of the main targets of Porto president Pinto da Costa, who also tried for André Villas-Boas and Marco Silva of Olympiakos, before announcing the appointment of former Valencia manager Nuno Espírito Santo. In recent years, Tite had other opportunities to work in Europe. He, for example, was sounded out by Inter Milan in 2013 and Tottenham in 2014.
