Former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has ruled out signing Brazilian forward Neymar for Manchester City.
According to the information from Spanish newspaper SPORT, Guardiola has asked sporting director Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano not to negotiate a move for the 24-year-old. Manchester City had made contact with Neymar in recent months, but it seems like talks have stalled. Meanwhile, the publication adds that Barcelona have made a final offer to renew the contract of Neymar, who’s currently on vacation. The Catalans have reached their limit, and offered an annual salary of €15 million for the Brazilian to extend his bond. Barcelona understands that after Lionel Messi, Neymar is the main player of the team and so it is worth making another effort to keep him. Neymar could also become the second highest earner in the squad. Luis Enrique’s team have a feeling that the father of the player and his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, have hindered the renewal talks.
