AS Roma defender Leandro Castán admitted his desire to return to wear the shirt of Corinthians one day.
On Monday, Leandro Castán participated in “Boa Noite, FOX” and he said that he wants to win the FIFA Club World Cup, which wasn’t possible in 2012. Castán won the Copa Libertadores with Corinthians four years ago, but left the club for Italian football shortly after. He said: “I want to return to play in this new Corinthians. I won the Copa Libertadores, but missed the Club World Cup. So I still want to complete that path.”
However, a return to Corinthians is unlikely to happen soon. Leandro Castán has a contract with AS Roma until June 2018, and the player wants to “repay the debt” he has with Italian side. Castán underwent surgery in December 2014 after it was found that he had a cavernoma in his brain. The defender was nearly a year away from the pitch, and came back in August 2015. Castán added: “Earlier this year several things came to me, not clubs, but intermediaries. At the moment, it is difficult for me to return to Brazil. I have a contract with Roma, and a debt for all they did for me.”
