Lucas Lima desires to play in Europe and he’s hoping for an agreement between Santos and investment group Doyen Sports.
Santos have warned several times that they want to keep Lucas Lima until the end of his contract in December 2017 and therefore must reject all proposals for the playmaker this year. The reason is that the club owns just 10% of the economic rights of the player. According to the information from UOL Esporte, there’s only one way found by the club and the player’s representatives to sell Lucas Lima in the upcoming transfer window. And Doyen Sports would have to lose much of their profit. Santos want the group of investors that owns 80% of the economic rights of Lucas to hand over half of the rights to the club. As a result, Santos would have 50% of economic rights, and would accept to sell him in the middle of this year. Agent Wagner Ribeiro said: “His dream is to play in Europe and there are enquiries to buy him already. What needs to happen is an agreement between Santos and Doyen.”
Santos claims behind the scenes that it would be better for Doyen to lose 40% now than getting nothing in 2017, as the club wants to keep him until the end of his contract. In a statement, Santos claims that they do not intend to sell Lucas Lima, but promises to analyze the proposals received.
