According to Sky Italia, Manchester United and Barcelona are set to do battle for Monaco’s Brazilian right-back Fabinho. The ex Real Madrid right back was part of Brazil’s Copa America Centenario squad, but did not play a single minute.
United reportedly like the idea of taking Fabinho, with Italian Matteo Darmian enduring a mixed season last year. Meanwhile, Barcelona have confirmed the exit of his compatriot Dani Alves and the Catalan club view Fabinho as a good long term replacement with similar qualities.
Fabinho certainly seems to be earmarked as Alves’ successor on the international stage. He has been at Monaco since 2013, finalising a deal there in 2015 following a 2 year loan from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
