Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that A.C. Milan are interested in taking Alexandre Pato back to Milan. The Corinthians striker has endured a miserable time at his parent club, who have loaned him to São Paulo and Chelsea respectively since buying him from Milan in January 2013.

At Chelsea, Pato made only two substitute appearances in a four month loan spell and it is extremely unlikely that the London club will look to make the deal permanent. That being the case, he will return to Corinthians, where there are only another seven months to run on his deal.

This means that Pato will be available on a free transfer in six months and that he is free to begin negotiating with European clubs now. Milan are said to be interested by the promise of a cut price deal now, before his contract expires.

Pato played for Milan for five years between 2007-2012 when he was considered the world’s premier young talent. Injuries and loss of form took their toll and Pato moved back to Brazil. But Milan have been floundering of late, as have Milan and reports in Italy suggest that A.C. are keen to reignite the partnership.
