Alexandre Pato’s agent, Gilmar Veloz, has told Goal Brasil that Chelsea have still not decided whether or not to take up the option to sign his client on a permanent transfer. The Brazilian forward joined Chelsea on loan in January, but only made two sub appearances in his four month spell.

He has no future at Corinthians, who have previously loaned him to São Paulo for two years. His contract runs out in January 2017 and Timão are desperate not to lose him on a free having purchased him for around €12m with little return in 2013.

Chelsea have new manager Antonio Conte waiting in the wings and Gilmar says he is still weighing up his squad, “Chelsea have not given me or the player any information on the future of Alexandre Pato,” he said, “We received news that Mr. Conte is reviewing the players in the squad for now.”

It seems unlikely that Chelsea will keep him, with the player himself admitting that he would consider a move to a lesser European league. His priority is to remain in Europe, but the player says he will return to Brazil failing that.
