Eight-time German champions Borussia Dortmund and current UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla are reportedly keen on São Paulo’s Rodrigo Caio, who can operate in both midfield and central defence.
According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, the parents and brother of Rodrigo Caio was supposed to arrive in São Paulo on Friday to meet with a representative of Borussia Dortmund. The player is currently with the Brazilian national team in the United States for the Copa América Centenário. Rodrigo, who was previously managed by Jorge Mendes, is without an agent now and has indicated his family to take care of the negotiations with Dortmund. Last summer, São Paulo had officially announced that Rodrigo Caio was sold to Valencia for a €16 million fee, but a deal collapsed after he failed his medical examinations. Jorge Mendes soon took Rodrigo for a medical at Atlético Madrid, but the player turned down the loan offer put forward by the Colchoneros. The family of Rodrigo Caio, who lives in Dracena, then decided to take charge of his career. In addition to the Germans , Rodrigo Caio is also wanted by Sevilla. In recent days, São Paulo president Leco demanded a letter from an officer of the Spanish club.
