Barcelona Sporting Director Roberto Fernandez has confirmed that Brazilian right-back Dani Alves has opted to leave the club this summer. The 33 year old has been linked with a move to Juventus this week and it is understood that a clause in his contract will allow him to leave for free if the deal is done prior to next week.

During a press conference today, Fernandez confirmed, “Alves has decided to leave us. Dani is fantastic but he’s leaving because of his own decision and we have got to respect that. It’s a very personal decision that we accept and there’s nothing more to say.”

Fernandez refused to be drawn on possible replacements, with Corinthians’ Fagner and Arsenal’s Catalonian full back Hector Bellerin both mentioned. “Hector Bellerín? I’m not planning anything,” he said.

“At right back we have confidence in Aleix Vidal, he was signed for that reason. We also have Sergi Roberto. Bartra has fantastic qualities and needs to play. We’ll look for a solution. I don’t want him to not be linked to the club.”

Fernandez also quashed rumours of a Neymar exit, “Neymar will stay here for many years to come.”
