Brazil have called Paris Saint Germain’s Lucas Moura and Grêmio goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe into their Copa América squad. They will replace the injured Rafinha (Barcelona) and Ederson (Benfica). Both players will arrive to join the Seleção’s training camp in the US on Thursday.

It is strongly rumoured that Dunga wanted to call Palmeiras wonderkid Gabriel Jesus into the squad to replace Rafinha, but the 19 year old could not obtain the appropriate Visa in time. Douglas Costa and Ricardo Oliveira have already had to withdraw from the squad through injury.

Champions League finalists Filipe Luis and Casemiro joined the squad on Tuesday and took part in some light running. However, Kaká and Fabinho were under medical observation having both complained of muscle tightness. Both will continue to be assessed.

“Kaká and Fabinho will train at the gym, they have complained of muscle fatigue after the game, they are under medical observation. They complained of discomfort, it is important to note the early hours of this situation. In this moment it is not necessary for them to withdraw,” said team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar.

Brazil have until Friday afternoon to call up any replacements should Fabinho and Kaká’s situations not improve. Brazil play their opening game against Ecuador on Saturday evening in Pasadena.
