Juventus Sporting Director Beppe Marotta has confirmed that the Italian club are in discussions with Barcelona for the transfer of Brazilian right-back Dani Alves. The Catalan club are said to be looking to cash in on the 33 year old for someone younger and Juve claim negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Marotta said, “I can confirm that negotiations with Daniel Alves are in very good way and we are pleased with this.” Juventus are reported to want the deal done before the end of the week, with Alves in America preparing to represent Brazil in the Copa América Centenário, which starts this weekend.

Alves joined Sevilla from Salvador club Bahia in 2002, before signing for Barcelona in 2008. He has won six La Liga titles, four Copa del Reyes and three Champions League winners’ medals in his eight years at the Catalan club.

Juve would have to negotiate his temporary release from Brazil’s training camp to sign the deal, which Dunga is unlikely to countenance. Juve are also linked with a move for his Barca clubmate Javier Mascherano, who is also in America with Argentina.
