On loan at Chelsea until June 30, Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato made it clear that he has no intention of returning to Corinthians.
In an interview with Seleção SporTV, the striker recalled his spell with Corinthians, when he managed to get rid of constant muscular injuries and was heavily criticized by fans and club members for missing a penalty against Grêmio in 2013. Pato has a contract with the current Brasileirão champions until the end of this year, but says he will return only if an agreement cannot be reached with another club.
Pato said: “I will not stop thinking about Corinthians in my career. They helped me get back. That penalty happened [against Grêmio], fans criticized me, some people within Corinthians criticized me…but I"m a professional, I presented myself before going to Chelsea. If no clubs show up, then I will introduce myself and stay until the end of the contract."
After returning from his two-year loan spell at São Paulo, Pato was not allowed to train with the ball with his Corinthians teammates because the leaders were afraid that he might get hurt. He added: “I was introduced, had tests, did physical works, but they wouldn"t let me train with the ball. I was out because it was a period of negotiations and they didn"t want me to get hurt. It"s not my desire [to return to Corinthians]. If by chance something happens [not having proposals], I"d go back."
