Barcelona have intensified in recent days their search for a club to loan out Brazilian right-back Douglas.
The main desire of the club’s board is to send the former São Paulo man to a team from La Liga, but with the lack of interest, they’re already considering releasing him to play in another country in Europe. An eventual return to Brazilian football is ruled out by both parties. The right-back has a contract with the Catalan club until June 2019, but he’s outside the plans of coach Luis Enrique for next season. Douglas, 25, was signed in August 2014 for €4 million from São Paulo, but has played just very few games for Barcelona. Luis Enrique does not intend to count on Douglas, and the club’s leaders are trying to find a new club for the player, something that was not possible in the previous transfer window.
