Watford goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes has spoken of his delight after landing an awards night treble at Watford FC’s end of season awards dinner. The Brazilian goalkeeper claimed the Players’ Player of the season, the Supporters’ Player of the Season and the Performance of the Season.

"It"s not easy [winning this award] because in the team we"ve got players like Troy Deeney, Craig Cathcart and Ben Watson, and the whole team makes me feel good at the back," said Gomes, “This is more than special, because it comes from you guys [the fans].

"It has been a pleasure to play for you and I will try to do my best all the time to put Watford where we want to.  Well done to you guys because you make the club and we need you.  If we stick together and if you stay behind the club, like we did this season, we are going to achieve great things in the future."

Gomes won the performance of the season for his display in a 1-0 win at The Hawthorns in March, in which he saved two penalties, "First of all I praise the Lord for this opportunity and for this very special moment for me, and my family as well," he said.

“I need to mention the whole of Watford FC, but one guy in particular – Paolo [De Toffol], our goalkeeper coach. When I first came he told me that he would help me go back to my level again, and we did it together.

“My teammates have also been great with me, they have helped me a lot and I"ve learned a lot with them as well. When I put on a Watford shirt I try my best to help you guys and I will keep trying all the time, and I will try to get better and better every day."
