Ex AC Milan and Real Madrid star Kaká is the highest paid player in the MLS according to a report compiled by the MLS Players’ Union. The Brazilian earns more than Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard Andrea Pirlo, David Villa and Sebastien Giovinco

Kaká joined new franchise Orlando City in 2014, after a loan spell with boyhood club São Paulo. The 2005 Ballon D’Or winner is on a reported £4.9m per year at the American club, with the next highest earner, Sebastien Giovinco, on £4.8m per year.

The lowest paid player is Montreal’s Belizean forward Michael Salazar. The 23-year-old collects £35,260 a year – a sum Kaka can earn in less than three days. Kaká is Orlando’s ‘Designated Player’, the player that is allowed to exceed the MLS salary cap. Orlando City are owned by Brazilian entrepreneur Flávio Augusto da Silva. Julio Baptista has also recently signed for Orlando.
