Liverpool’s Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino has spoken about the possible arrival of Mario Goetze at Anfield this summer, describing him as a player with “incredible qualities” that would fit into the Liverpool side.
Firmino played against Goetze many times during his spell at Hoffenheim and Goetze has played under Jurgen Klopp during his time with Borussia Dortmund. Goetze , who scored the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup Final, has struggled for game time at Bayern Munich and could be open to becoming reunited with Klopp this summer.
It’s a move that would please Firmino, who told Bild newspaper, “I know Gotze well from my time in Germany, when I played with Hoffenheim against Borussia Dortmund and Bayern. He has incredible qualities in attack. He would fit in well with us, and he will surely help us with his class also.”
It’s reported that Goetze would favour a move to the Premier League and his prior links with Klopp would make them a strong candidate for his signature. Particularly if they win the Europa League in Basel tonight, which would qualify the club for next year’s Champions League.
