The behaviour of Barcelona forward Neymar in the national team has been a subject of many debates over the past months.
Neymar has collected red cards and has been suspended for some key games, despite being the main player of the national team and wearing the captain"s armband. For coach Dunga, however, there is a certain exaggeration in the criticism of the player. On Monday, in an interview with SporTV, the coach talked about controversies involving the player. Dunga said: “We"ve talked with Neymar. At Barcelona, he does not use the armband and the same things happens [provoking him]. Everything that involves Neymar takes a larger proportion."
Dunga then discussed the fact that Neymar went to a party during the period when he was suspended from the World Cup qualifier against Paraguay. He added: “He has participated in a party or not, it"s not relevant. He is young. We have talked to him because everything he does takes a greater proportion and he will have to learn to live with it."
The coach also took the opportunity to talk about David Luiz and Thiago Silva, who have been excluded from his squad for the Copa América Centenário. Dunga said: “Each had their chance, now it"s the time to give a chance to other players. In football you can not put anything as definitive. At the end we"ll pick up one by one and analyze. There are a number of factors that influences our decision."
